Interview Summary:

Melvin and June Ricks were a great couple to interview, and I would like to thank them for taking the time to visit with me about Middleberg School. I enjoyed hearing about how they met and how they have been married for over 60 years now.

Mr. Ricks was in the Marine Core, and they traveled and moved to many different states including California and Virginia, just to name a couple. However, after traveling and moving around, they moved back to the Middleberg homestead where they currently live.

They told stories about how all the grades, 1st through 12th were in one building and that the 9th and 10th graders were in one classroom and the 11th and 12th graders were in one classroom. Melvin had a total of nine students in his graduating class and June had seventeen students in her graduating class. They both said that it was nice to be in the same classroom together, because Melvin disliked English and loved math, while June disliked math and loved English, and, yes they "helped" each other with their studies.

The Ricks enjoy living in the Middleberg community and think Middleberg was a great place to go to school.
